It was also released as "Join Me", since they weren't allowed to include "Death" in the title for the US version. The song is the band's best-known song in Europe. The music video for the "Please Dont't Leave Me" was directed by Dave Meyers, and was leaked online before the song's official announcement as a single, alongside the single's cover art, thus negatively affecting its commercial performance in the USA, but the song still managed to reach the Top 20, peaking at #17.

It was written by Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Rodney Jerkins, LaShawn Daniels, Fred Jerkins III, Sean Garrett, and Shawn Corey "Jay-Z" Carter for Destiny's Child's fourth studio album, Destiny Fulfilled (2004). The song was already developed by Jerkins before it came to Destiny's Child.
